There are several amazing companies out there organizing group trips and we definitely can’t say that we are the best choice for your trip.
Here we just want to be as honest as we can and show you what traveling with Orígenes is really all about.
So, if you resonate with the idea of slow itineraries, free time to just watch the sunset, making new and valuable friends and participating in honest travel experiences (and not feel like you’ve thrown your money away), we will definitely be the perfect choice for you to discover Latin America.

- We go where others don’t go: We know that being surrounded by a hundred tourists fighting for the best photo spot tarnishes any travel experience. So we opted for the alternative (without leaving aside the classics). Of course we will climb Rio’s Christ the Redeemer, but we will also enjoy a sailboat ride on Guanabara Bay and put our rhythm to the test at a small local club in the evening.
- Hand in hand with locals is better: No one knows a city’s hidden gems, which small restaurant makes the best tortillas or which spot is ideal to watch the sunset better than the local folks. So get ready to dive into every destination with the real experts.
- Genuine connections: I think we speak for everyone when we say that, in today’s world, authentic connections are rare (it all seems a bit superficial and plastic, doesn’t it?). Traveling, on the other hand, makes everything feel authentic and intense. It makes us be more present, open to experimenting and to making new friends.
- You don’t have time to plan it, so don’t (and leave it to us): Browsing for hours trying to find the best area to stay, the must-try restaurants, and reading hundreds of articles that start by saying “ Things you can’t miss on a trip to…” is a big waste of time. Planning authentic travel experiences (those that make your friends ask you: where are you right now?!!!) is something that takes a lot of research and connections. So, unless you want to end up in the same place as the millions of people who read that darn article, you should consider leaving the planning to those who know and just focus on packing your bags.

Especially women (but not exclusively) traveling solo, who are between 35 and 55 years old (this is just an average, everyone is welcome!).
More intimately: They are people who consider a small ceramics class with a local artist a valuable experience, who prefer to get away from crowds and explore routes that are off the beaten path, who are open to exchanging stories and beers with a group of people who were complete strangers just a few days ago.
(Actually, if you’ve made it this far, you’re probably our ideal customer).

Like everything in life, nothing is black or white.
Many times we will find ourselves having spectacular and exclusive banquets, but just as often we will be touring markets and trying street food standing up (yes, both are part of the reality of a destination). Our definition of luxury is authenticity, so we usually prioritize intimate and honest experiences, but we swear we’ll always have a cozy and beautiful hotel to return to recharge our energy.
Every part of the itinerary, every small visit or meal was carefully thought out to provide an experience that feels intimate, authentic and professional.

You know the feeling you get when you are at a crowded party, and you feel like you missed some amazing moments because you were waiting at the bar for your drink, and you didn’t talk to anyone because the music was too loud and getting to the bathroom seemed like an impossible mission? The same is true for mass group travel.
Inevitably, when there are too many people it is very difficult to have a quiet chat with someone or enjoy a small group cooking class.
That is why we decided that our groups will never exceed 14 passengers. This way, we can enjoy getting to know each other better, move around together and immerse ourselves more easily in the local culture.

Our cancellation policies can be found in the “Terms and Conditions” section, where our travelers will find clear guidelines.
-
Of course! As long as any allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements are communicated at the time of booking, they will be taken into account in order to adapt the meals and ensure everyone enjoys an equally fabulous experience.

Once you have decided on your travel destination and date, you must click on the “book” button. There you will have to select whether you prefer a double room (and share with another traveler) or a single room (with an extra cost), and fill out a form with your personal information.
You will then be redirected to the payment area where you can choose to pay in full or an initial deposit of US$500 (non-refundable).
Even if you have completed the payment, we have to wait certain times to process it, so you should always wait for our confirmation via email to ensure your spot is secured.
Please DO NOT book your flights until you have received confirmation from us and have checked the days and times specified in the itinerary.
After receiving your confirmation, if you have only paid the initial deposit (US$500) you can start making monthly payments to settle the trip. The total cost must be paid in full 60 days prior to the trip.
Please note that depending on how far in advance you make your reservation or the type of trip it is, we may require full payment for the trip. This information will be available in the details of each trip.
You can find more information about this in our “Terms and Conditions”

We are not an all-inclusive, but we definitely don’t want you to end up eating in a bad restaurant, so here is our proposal: We carefully select activities, hotels, restaurants, experiences and meals so that you can get the most honest and authentic portrait of the destination (also to avoid wasting time looking for a good place to grab a drink).
So our trips include:
Accommodation, transfers, all the activities mentioned in the itinerary, dinners and breakfast (also some lunches but here we want to give you some free time to explore on your own).
In the details of each itinerary you will find what is included and what is not.
Additional costs are usually related to purchases of local products, beverages during lunches and dinners, tips, some meals and of course the airfare that each traveler purchases personally.
-
Most of our travelers tend to travel solo, so there is always the option of sharing a room with one of them. We usually group them based on age and interests, so if you have a brief personal description to share, it would help us a lot in finding your ideal roomie!
-
We do not provide a flight booking service, which means that you will have to take care of purchasing your flights, monitoring them, doing the check-in, and contacting the airline in case of any cancellation or modification.
Either way, if you need help finding the best flight option, we can guide you.
In case of any changes or modifications to your flights, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can do our best to accommodate you.
-
We will always let you know if a visa is required for your destination, but it will be your personal responsibility to obtain and pay for it.
Having travel insurance is mandatory.
Again, this paperwork is done individually and we recommend doing it on the same day that the trip reservation is paid.
Travel insurance should cover personal injury, medical treatment, repatriation and evacuation expenses, including international helicopter rescue and air ambulance.
We recommend that travel insurance also covers personal property and trip cancellation. Trip cancellation insurance may be the only means of receiving reimbursement for flights and other non-refundable expenses in case an Orígenes Travel trip is canceled for any reason.
